Native to California, one of the greenest, most uniform ground cover manzanitas. Forms a dense carpet 8-14in. tall, mounding slightly higher after many years. Spreads about 5ft. Roundish oval, 1/2-in. long leaves, bright green even in hottest, driest weather. Small pink flowers. In hot interior valleys, it needs deep irrigation ever 2-3 weeks

Soil:
Require excellent drainage, but they can tolerate poor soil and in fact prefer rocky or sandy acid soils to rich, heavy ones.
